PSYCHOTHERAPY

I primarily use an integrative approach and draw on a range of therapeutic techniques, including EMDR, schema therapy, and interpersonal psychotherapy, to focus on what makes your strengths and challenges unique to you and help you to develop a greater sense of meaning, inner growth, and self-awareness.

I currently offer psychotherapy for individuals aged 13 years and over.

I am unable to provide reports for Work Cover or legal purposes.

I offer sessions in-person at the Warragul Wellness Centre (34 Mason Street, Warragul VIC) at Positive Minds Gippsland (2A Kirk Street, Moe VIC) and via telehealth Australia-wide.

EMDR is an evidence-based therapy used to treat PTSD and other trauma-related concerns by reducing the emotional intensity of distressing memories by enabling the brain to reprocess them in a more adaptive manner. During EMDR sessions, bilateral stimulation (guided eye movements, tapping, or alternating sounds) is used while recalling elements of a traumatic memory. With careful preparation and resourcing, clients often discover that previously triggering memories become less overwhelming. This allows them to respond to present situations with a greater sense of calm and flexibility.

Schema Therapy

Schema Therapy is an integrative approach that helps identify and change early maladaptive schemas — deep patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving formed when core emotional needs were not met in childhood. These schemas often influence current relationships, emotions, and coping strategies. Schema Therapy uses techniques like cognitive restructuring, imagery work, and experiential exercises to challenge unhelpful patterns and develop a nurturing sense of self. It is particularly effective for long-standing emotional difficulties, personality disorders, and complex trauma. By addressing the root causes of these patterns, it helps clients relate to themselves and others in healthier ways.

MANTRA

Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT)

Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT)

MANTRA (Maudsley Model of Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults) is an evidence-based therapy for adults with anorexia nervosa. MANTRA uses experiential exercises to help you develop more flexible thinking, improve emotional regulation, address unhelpful coping strategies, and build a meaningful life outside of your eating disorder. Where appropriate, support people such as partners or family members can be involved to enhance understanding and support recovery.

MANTRA emphasises autonomy, collaboration, and compassion, supporting individuals to move toward recovery in a way that feels personally meaningful and sustainable.

Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT)

Interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT) is a structured, short-term therapy that focuses on how your current relationships and life transitions impact your mood and emotional wellbeing. Many individuals find that their distress (including depression, anxiety, or eating difficulties) is closely linked to relationship stress, conflict, loss, or significant transitions.

Through IPT, you can gain insights into these connections and recognize patterns in communication or behavior that may be hindering your progress. The goal is to strengthen your support system and develop more effective ways of expressing your needs. IPT  has shown to be effective in treating bulimia nervosa and binge-eating disorder.
